If you have moved into a newly constructed home recently do you know if your builder had your ducts professionally cleaned?
Many builders will advise you if they have provided you with this service, either in your home builders contract or a sticker placed on your furnace advising you that a professional cleaning was done, the date it was done, and a recommended time for it to be done again. Usually the ducting is already in place in a new home before drywall, flooring, kitchen cabinets and finishing work like trims and moulding. Debris like drywall dust, small pieces of wood from flooring and trim work and general dust and dirt from the construction site (especially if you have moved into a new home division where there are still homes under construction), can accumulate in the ducts and end up being spread through your home the first time you turn on the furnace.
